1 c softened butter
1/2 c sugar
1 1/2 c packed br sugar
2 eggs
2 1/2 t vanilla
2 1/2 c flour
3/4 t salt
1 t baking powder
1 t baking soda
1 1/2 12-oz bags semisweet chocolate chips

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350. In large mixing bowl cream butter, sugars, eggs, and vanilla. Sift together flour, salt, bp, and soda. Combine wet and dry ingredients. Stir in chocolate chips.
With fingers, place golf-ball-size dough portions 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake 9 mins or until edges are light brown.

It's important not to exceed the cooking time, even if the cookies appear to be underbaked. The finished product should be soft in the middle and crunchy around the edges.
