1 tbsp. butter
1/2 cup white sugar
1 cup flour
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 cup milk

Sauce:
1 cup brown sugar
1 tbsp. butter
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 cup raisins
2 cups boiling water

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350ºF. Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Sift together dry ingredients and add to the creamed mixture alternately with the milk. Spread batter into 8x8" pan. Mix sauce ingredients together and cook to a medium syrup. Pour the sauce over batter mixture. Bake 30 minutes. During the baking, the cake mixture rises to the top and sauce thickens into the bottom. Serve with whipped cream if desired.
