Ingredients: Batter: 8 egg whites 8 egg yolks 2 cups flour 1 cup sugar 1 tsp. vanilla
Filling: 8 egg yolks 1 cup sugar 2 tbsp. milk 1 cup margarine 3 tbsp. cocoa 1 tsp. vanilla

Directions:Batter: Beat egg whites until fluffy. In separate bowl, beat egg yolks and sugar until thick and light yellow. Gently combine yolk mixture with egg white mixture and vanilla. Fold in flour. Divide batter evenly into five or six 8" round, greased and lightly floured pans. Bake 350ºF until edges are lightly browned (approximately 10 minutes). Do not overbake. Makes 5 to 6 layers. Filling: Beat egg yolks and sugar until creamy and light. Add milk. Microwave 2 minutes; stir and then cook 1 minute at a time, stirring often until cooked. Beat in cocoa and butter until glossy and smooth - takes lots of beating to become glossy. Cool. Spread filling between cake layers and then ice entire cake; top and sides. |
