"As viscous as motor oil swirled in a swamp, redolent of burnt bell peppers nested in by incontinent mice and a finish reminiscent of the dregs of a stale can of Coca-Cola that someone has been using as an ashtray. Not a bad drink, though."--Excerpt from "The Moose Turd Wine Tasting" by T. A. Nonymous

6 Tbsp. plain flour
6 eggs, separated
1 stick butter
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Bring milk to boil and remove from heat. Caramelize 1/2 cup sugar in heavy iron skillet on low heat, stirring constantly until sugar has melted and has a caramel color (be careful not to overcook). Pour into cooled milk, add other ingredients and bring to low boil, stirring constantly until thickened. Pour into 2 pie shells and top with meringue. Beat egg whites at high speed. Add 1/4 tsp. cream of tartar and 1 Tbsp. sugar per egg white. Continue to beat for a good while until stiff peaks form. Spoon onto pies, making sure meringue touches edges of pies all the way around so it won't shrink. Bake at 400 degrees until golden brown on tops. Wonderful pie!
