3 c. fresh or frozen huckleberries
1 c. grated apple
1 scant c. sugar
2 T. flour (or more is using frozen berries
1/2 tsp. almond extract
dash of salt
pastry for double-crust pie

Directions:
Directions:
Measure berries, apple, sugar, flour, almond extract and salt into a mixing bowl and mix well. Pour into unbaked pie shell. Cover with top crust and bake at 375º for about one hour or until nicely browned and filling bubbles.

Grated apple does not alter taste but stretches the precious berries.
