Meatballs


Ingredients:

1 lb ground beef
½ lb ground pork
1 tbsp chopped onion
½ cup dry bread crumbs
1 tsp garlic salt
¼ tsp black pepper
1 egg
½ cup milk
1 tsp sweet basil
¼ cup grated parmesan
1 tbsp chopped parsley

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 350ºF
2. Mix all ingredients together in a large bowl until well mixed and sticky
3. Roll meat into balls, about the size of a golf ball
4. Place meatballs on baking sheet, evenly spaced out, and bake for 15 minutes
5. Remove from oven and let rest 20 minutes
6. Add meatballs to the sauce, including any juices in the baking sheet

Note: It is best to start meatballs first, then begin the sauce while the meatballs are baking. Once ready, add the meatballs to the sauce and continue simmering sauce until finished
 

Spaghetti Sauce

12 oz. tomato paste
12 oz. water
24 oz. tomato sauce, unsalted
½ tsp oregano
1 tsp sweet basil
1 tsp salt
½ tsp parsley
¼ cup grated parmesan
4 garlic cloves
1 tbsp olive oil

Directions:
1. Brown garlic in olive oil
2. Add all ingredients into large pot on medium-high heat and stir until combined
3. Once at a boil or bubbly, reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer
4. Add meatballs when ready
5. Continue to simmer for 2-3 hours or until desired taste. Longer simmer will result in less sweetness
